What level of editing do you need?
Many authors are not sure quite how much editing their book requires. To help us both determine the scope of the project, I offer a free pre-edit critique of the first 25 pages of your book. My critique will include thoughts on story structure, pacing and character development and the degree of editing required.
Still not sure?
A good editor/author relationship is key to creating an outstanding book. To help us get to know each other, I can provide you with a sample edit of the first 1000 words of your book for free. That edit can be done in conjunction with the pre-edit critique.
Developmental Edit – Characters, Pacing and Plot
$10 per 1000 words
A development edit focuses solely on the story and includes advice on elements such as pacing, plot, characterization and dialogue. If you have not had many people read your work yet, or if you feel stuck and need some fresh ideas, then a developmental edit is a good place to start.
Line Edit – Grammar, Syntax and Flow
$15 per 1000 words
A line edit focuses on the consistency and flow of the work by correcting distracting elements such as awkward transitions, inconsistent tense and weak word choices. Choose this level of editing after your manuscript has been through a developmental edit.
Proofreading – Spelling, Punctuation, a Second Set of Eyes
$10 per 1000 words
This should be your last edit, and is a must for self-published authors. This edit will correct any slippery typos like repeated words, misplaced commas or misspellings.
